The Education Department (ED) is reminding colleges about reporting deadlines, particularly for gainful employment/financial value transparency (GE/FVT) and the new Student Tuition and Transparency (STATS) and Earnings Accountability framework.
ED guidance posted this week reminds colleges to submit complete GE/FVT data for the 2024 and 2025 reporting cycles by January 15, 2027. It notes that more than 1,900 institutions have not reported or underreported this data.
The department encourages institutions to submit their GE/FVT data at least one week before the deadlines.
“Institutions that wait until the deadline may not have sufficient time to correct errors flagged in an institution’s submission,” the guidance says. “Submissions are not considered complete until all errors are resolved. Error-correction is not an acceptable justification for late submissions.”
Institutions that have not submitted are listed in a spreadsheet accompanying the guidance. If an institution cannot submit complete information or take advantage of the transitional reporting option by the deadline, it must submit an explanatory statement to ED.
The guidance also reminds institutions that the deadline to submit GE/FVT data for the 2026 cycle is October 1. It details the process for submitting data and how colleges may elect to early implement the STATS accountability framework’s reporting instead.
ED will host an office hours session on September 10 focused on these reporting procedures.
