Taking college courses during high school puts students on track to succeed in high school and college, but even as dual-enrollment programs have rapidly grown in California, the students most in need of that academic boost don’t always have access to it.


House bill 1374 would allow for the Illinois Community College Board and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board to create an academic program to certify students to become law enforcement officers or firefighters.

Hudson Valley Community College is adding a selective – and free – honors program that will aim to help students who otherwise might not have the opportunity to go to college, let alone be able to apply to an Ivy League school.
