As the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) gathers information to celebrate its 100th anniversary, we recently came across a collection of AACC membership directories in the office, which includes interesting historical facts. For example, according to a 1944 directory (pictured above), 56 percent of the nation’s 586 junior colleges at the time were privately controlled. More than half of those (57 percent) were denominational. Learn more about AACC’s history on Twitter at #AACCcenturyofsuccess.

And remember to mark your calendar to attend the 2020 Annual AACC Convention March 28-30 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor, Maryland.
