New CEO

Gregory McLeod will serve as president of Edgecombe Community College in North Carolina, effective mid-August. A 17-year veteran of community colleges, McLeod is currently provost and chief campus academic officer at Thomas Nelson Community College in Virginia.

CEO on the move

Jennifer Methvin is now chancellor of Arkansas State University (ASU)-Beebe. She previously served for four years as president of Crowder College (Missouri). From 2005 to 2014, Methvin was vice chancellor for academics at University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. She began her higher education career as an adjunct instructor at ASU-Beebe before being hired as assistant professor of English at the Newport campus of ASU-Beebe in 1993.

Interim CEOs

Kenneth Boham will temporary head James Sprunt Community College in North Carolina. Boham is the retired president of Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and most recently served as interim president at Martin Community College.

Gordon Burns will serve as interim president at Vance-Granville Community College (North Carolina), effective August 11. Burns is the retired president of Wilkes Community College.

William Aiken will be interim CEO at Wake Technical Community College in North Carolina. Aiken is the retired president of Sampson Community College and most recently served as interim president at Cleveland Community College.

Appointments

Pam Eddinger, president of Bunker Hill Community College in Massachusetts, has been elected to a five-year term on the Boston Foundation board of directors. The college has worked closely with the foundation on projects and initiatives designed to improve outcomes and opportunities for students and graduates across Greater Boston, including the foundation’s Success Boston college completion initiative.

“The Boston Foundation is a center of collective effort in our community and a major civic leader when it comes to equity in education,” Eddinger said.

Michele Cabral has been appointed director of Training & Workforce Options, which is a workforce development partnership between Holyoke Community College (HCC) and Springfield Technical Community College (both in Massachusetts). He is a former accounting professor and interim dean of business and technology at HCC.

Mary Lou D’Allegro is now vice president for academic affairs at Tennessee’s Columbia State Community College. She most recently served as associate provost at Paul Smith’s College in New York.

Debra Gurney is the new director of nursing at College of DuPage in Illinois. Most recently, she was assistant dean of health sciences at Dominican University in Illinois.

At Waubonsee Community College in Illinois: Lulu Blacksmith has been appointed to dean for student and community engagement; Kathleen Gorski is now dean for learning outcomes, curriculum and program development; Laura Ortiz is dean for faculty development and engagement; and Scott Peska has been appointed assistant vice president of student services. Blacksmith has served as director of government and community engagement at Waubonsee since 2008. Gorski has served as assistant dean for outcomes assessment at the college since 2016. Ortiz served as dean for social sciences, education and world languages since 2015. Peska has served as dean for students since 2012.
