Seventh through twelfth grade musicians interested in continuing their musical pursuits during the summer can have fun and meet new friends while attending the DMC Department of Music's annual Viking Summer Band Camp! Band activities provide each student the opportunity to enjoy music making with encouragement from teams of leading music educators from South Texas.
This year's camp includes honor and concert bands, jazz and mariachi ensembles, a drumline, percussion ensembles and chamber music, along with newly added music electives.
Auditions for ensemble and chair placement will be held Saturday, July 10, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center Music Building.
Final concerts will be held Thursday and Friday, July 15-16, at 7:30 p.m. in Richardson Performance Hall.
During the week, lunch will be provided to all participants as part of their registration fee. Early registration is $100 and is due on or before June 15. "All-state participants" can participate for free (please verify qualification). Tuition after June 15 is $125.
Participants will receive a souvenir compact disc and a Viking Band Camp patch.
